Apple iPad- The New Tablet Computer from Apple Recently, on the 3rd of April 2010, Apple had finally released the long-awaited Apple iPad. It was reported that on April 3rd 9 am, at the moment the distribution of this mini computer in local stores started, there were hundreds of customers lined up in front some of them, eager to buy this new technological wonder. For the ones among you that aren`t familiar with what the Apple iPad is, here is a little explanation. The Apple iPad is one of the so-called tablet computers. It was designed and marketed by the Apple Corporation. It is designed for media consumption, Internet browsing and gaming. Unlike most other tablet computers, Apple iPad uses fingertips for interaction instead of the more commonly used stylus. It is considered that this device can be is a cross between a smart phone and a laptop. As mentioned, this tablet computer is created by Apple, and it shares some of the characteristics of the older Apple devices of similar type. For instance, it uses the iPhone operating system, and it has a multi- touch LCD, which is used for most interactions with the device. Ipad's Overview
The Display Apple iPad is equipped with a 9.7 inch liquid crystal display, featuring a 1024*768 pixel resolution, fingerprint and scratch resistant glass. As mentioned, this device was designed to be used with bare fingers. Connectivity The iPad uses Wireless WAN or Wi-Fi to install software, browse the Internet, and load and stream media. It does not have any ports that support wired connectivity. Audio The Apple iPad is equipped with dual speakers, which are placed inside the iPad. Also, it supports both normal headphones, and models which are equipped with microphones or volume controls. The iPad uses a rechargeable lithium- ion battery. It is designed to be recharged with high current power, and with the help of a USB power adapter. Although it can be recharged through the standard computer USB port, the lower current that these ports provide will slow down the recharging of the iPad considerably. The iPad lacks a web camera, and this was criticized as one of its weakest points, especially since a lot of users expected that feature. Still the Apple iPad is considered to be a quality product, and with the base model’s moderate price of just 499$, it is definitely one of the top competitors in the market of tablet computers today. |
