|
Coding and decoding has become a vital part of our life. QR code is an invention that shows its importance in our daily life. QR or “Quick Response” is a matric code, two dimensional bar code reader that helps in decoding the content in a shortest possible time. The initial purpose of this invention was to track various parts in vehicle manufacturing but with the passage of time, it has spread its wings to commercial tracking as well as other convenience driven applications like mobiles.
Advancement in technology has resulted in the latest smart phones and iphones to have the ability to scan and read a QR code with the help of their cameras. This has resulted in many uses of QR-coding out of which few are given below:
QR-code has the ability to handle almost anything from alphanumeric characters to symbols to binary or any other kind of codes. It can hold up to 7,089 characters in one single numeric symbol or 4,296 characters in one alphanumeric symbol. Just imagine what you will get from this technology. QR code saves information in two dimensions, i.e. vertical and horizontal using old matrix coding system due to which you won’t see a proper picture. It is similar yet different from our traditional bar code because a bar code usually comprises of data in only vertical direction resulting in much lesser information then a QR code. Another advantage of a QR code is that scanning equipments just love them simply because they are extremely easy to use and contains much more data than a bar code.
