Cancelled: The Black Eyed Peas 360-degree Live Streaming Concert

All Black Eyed Peas fanatics were all hyped up about BEP’s supposedly charity concert held in NYC Central Park last June 9 until the last minute cancellation. The cancellation was due to an unfortunate storm in Manhattan that night. About 60,000 fans, some of those winning giveaway tickets from radio and TV shows were very frustrated especially knowing Taylor Swift and other popular artists will be having on-stage appearances all night.

Also an estimated of 20,000 BEP fans who were not able to get tickets can still join the fun since it was earlier announced that they will be having a 360-degree live streaming of the BEP charity concert online. However, they too were saddened.

Behind the 360-degree live streaming concert technology besides Will-i-Am is the interactive video company Immersive Media, building 360 applications in the mobile space. Users can control and switch from camera to camera for them to be able to see different angles of the concert area. The online application provided them an immersive 360-degree environment, letting them feel as if they were physically present in the concert.

Now, this wasn’t the first time that BEP has thought of or done 360-degree technology. As you may have already known BEP’s Will-i-Am is the geeky member who digs interactive technologies such as augmented reality and distribution content technologies. So anyway, the cancellation was even more disheartening because the concert could have gained more proceeds for the Robin Hood Foundation if the BEP band was able to play. Also, it took them a longer time to decide the cancellation. The rain didn’t stop them. The lightning and the thunder did.
