We are all fan of nature and things like this makes our hearts jumped twice at a time knowing these 360-degree virtual experience of different points of interests are free to use and for traveller enthusiasts, save your travel money for food, shelter and clothing when you have Google maps to enjoy. Sure being physically in the location is better but to get a sneak peak of what it looks gives you more time to maximize travel time.
BBC News mentioned that according to FAS, "For many outdoor enthusiasts, travelers and environmentalists, this creates an opportunity to experience the wonders of the Amazon, which will be accessible in a way they’d previously only dreamed about,” they added. “We’re honored to work with FAS on this project to bring the Amazon online for those who can’t visit in person, and help our partners share with the world the unique stories of its inhabitants and the beauty of this place they call home.” Early this month, Google announced their mapping of the Chicago Zoo and although the whole Google Map StreetView team has a long list of places to map, we are more than grateful to have heard Google's current mapping process of the Amazon Rainforest.
Also according to BBC, "FAS first contacted Google in 2009, presenting them with a proposal “to digitize high-quality images from the Amazon basin to demonstrate the effects of poor global sustainability efforts and widespread deforestation on the landscape" Emma Barnett, Digital Media Editor for the Telegraph, the Menlo Park says in her reports last August 18 that, "The team deployed to map the area by the technology giant have been traveling by boat and bike, armed with cameras, to collect panoramic images of the location and communities who live there. It has also employed some of the local indigenous people to pedal Google’s tricycles around their communities, which have cameras attached to them, in order to capture images of the different groups of people inhabiting the Amazon"
The 360-degree process should start at the Rio Negro River about 50km section for the the frist phase extending toTumbira community near Manaus–the capital of the state of Amazonas–to the Terra Preta community.
