Parkour as a word is non-existent but as a sport, Parkour’s fame is fast growing. Parkour is a form of exercise that requires body movements in obtaining obstacles in one’s path by jumping, vaulting, running or climbing over them. Mostly seen on action TV shoes and movies, music videos, and cartoons, Parkour has captured the hearts of our athletes. This sport has so much action and adrenaline going on. It is no surprise why most Parkour enthusiasts want to introduce this sport to the world by creating 360 degree videos of it in action. As cool as they are, Parkour runners carry iPhones to record exhibits and games in 360 degrees. How do they that? Using the latest iPhone camera detachable accessory called GoPano Micro Lens. BBC Natural History unit and Nat Geo’s adventure cameraman Rob McGregor shared his experience after shooting Parkour Runners moving like Spiderman across London from Tower Bridge to Covent Garden. “I have shot all over the world in all kinds of conditions but this is a first. You are thrown into a world where the frame is in front, behind and to the side of you. So, even though the subject has run past you, he is still in shot. There is nowhere to hide. You are constantly on the ground grubbing about, trying to keep out of shot.”
Like shooting action sports like surfing and skiing, shooting Parkour athletes is no easy thing even with GoPano Micro 360 Degree Lenses. However this handy iPhone camera accessory helps out a lot. McGregor hands the runner their own lenses for their iPhones for close-up shots like skateboard shooting. “You need to be filming in a bright, open area and have the subject close. These guys doing crazy moves close to the lens will look great.” So if you are wondering what Christmas present to give your photographer friends with iPhones, the GoPano Micro is definitely perfect. They can shoot any sport in 360 degrees and share them to the world.
